Counselor/Volunteer Opportunities and Expectations

We at Camp Magical Moments are looking for a small number of people from all walks of life who will volunteer their time for the week of June 15-23, 2008. There is a mandatory training session beginning Friday, June 13 and concluding at the arrival of the campers on Sunday, June 15, in the afternoon.

Each counselor must be 21 years of age or older and will undergo a Criminal Background Check following a strict selection process. We are looking for those individuals who are willing to donate their time and energy and who are willing to give 110% of themselves during this fun-filled, exhausting week.

Some of the responsibilities of the Counselors and Volunteers are:

Cabin Counselors – Cabin Counselors will work with a crew of other volunteers and staff in supporting and assisting the campers 24 hours a day. Counselors will sleep in rooms with campers and participate in daily activities. Counselors will offer continuous companionship, support, and encouragement to each camper, with a 2 to 1 camper /counselor ratio.

Medical Support – During the entire week of camp, a group of doctors and nurses are selected to administer medications, review camper medical files and to handle any medical emergencies on site 24 hours a day.

We will only accept as counselors those individuals who are committed to spending the entire week at the camp. All Initial Volunteers Applications must be received no later than February 18, 2008. There is more paperwork we will send you to meet a March 1st deadline.

Please know that we have been very fortunate to receive many applications for staffing in the past and if this is the case for the 2008 camp, we recommend you get your application in early and are available for a face-to-face interview during our interview process!
